It is possible to move in and through the world with freedom, ease and joy. The wisdom of our bodies often lies dormant in our unconscious, while our consciousness or awareness is held in tension or pain.
We will spend the retreat week waking up to the renewed possibility of sensing and feeling how physical restriction, tension, and stress can be changed into freedom and is within our control. Everything we expose ourselves to, either by choice or default, has an impact on our system. Our challenge is to stay with ourselves in balance, in joy, and in line with who we are.
Somatic movement delves into the unconscious, and helps us attain that inner equilibrium.
Within our somatic awareness lies intuition, creativity, and the ability to return to our most functional and free selves. When our perception shifts, our experience in the world follows. By gently embodying a renewed sense of yourself through a somatic movement practice you can bring optimal function and efficiency to all that you do.
Throughout the retreat, Marcie will guide you through a series of immersive workshops and experiences, including Somatic Movement, Yin Yoga and Meditation. You'll also have the opportunity to participate in QiGong sessions and a rejuvenating Sound Bath led by the expert staff at Yandara. These practices are designed to retrain your nervous system, promote physical and emotional balance, and uncover deep-seated patterns of stress and trauma within the body.

Fitness & Weight Loss Retreat
Join Holly Peng, MD and Marcie Costello and get a reboot on health and fitness! Join us for an all inclusive week of yoga and fitness, hiking, health lectures, delicious wholesome foods, meditation, relaxation, fun and a whole lot more! The 2023 retreat focus is for folks in the beginning stages of their fitness goals, so easier hikes and exercises. But make no mistake, this week can be the beginning of lifelong weight loss, physical and mental health, and exuberant living.
Our fitness guides will lead you on daily 1-3 hour hikes to nearby trails near the shore and in midst of forest and mountains. Our August 2023 retreat will be more beginner based but expect to sweat and get a good cardiovascular workout while receiving nature therapy. We will also lead you in a kayaking tour in beautiful Puget Sound waters. Morning yoga classes will stretch your muscles and prepare you for a continued week of activity. Other classes consist of strength training, yoga, and meditation.
Local gourmet chefs will prepare individualized meals for your specific needs, using mostly organic locally sourced sustainably raised food. You will be on average 1400-1800 calories/day of meals and snacks throughout the day and you will not feel hungry. Instead you will be energized and feel fully sustained. After a week of eating clean, you will feel like a new person and lose weight. You will also learn about nutrition and mindful eating through lectures and discussions.
Learn how mindfulness promotes less inflammation in the body, changes the brain and promotes prefrontal cortex and reduces our fight and flight center. You will be led in yoga and meditation classes and you will have quiet personal relaxation time at the inn.
You will have the opportunity to book massage sessions during your week at the inn by local therapists. Cleansing food and drinks will support your body to detoxify toxins and chemicals that build up from our environment. Sweating during your workouts and re-hydrating with clean water will naturally detoxify your body.
